It's a very busy, celebratory time for us here in Rachael Sage's universe, which as always, is alight with color, sparkle, and just the right amount of chutzpah. This month Rachael will be making a couple of special appearances in her hometown, culminating with her debut Holiday Spectacular, "Tchatchkes & Latkes", at Joe's Pub on December 23rd. We also have a bunch of exciting news to share with you, most notably, her recent honors at the 2009 OutMusic Awards, detailed below.
We wish you all a joyful, glittery and musically-inspiring Holiday Season, & thank you so much for supporting indie music!!!
xoxoxoxo & Swarovski® crystals,
On December 23rd, Rachael will make her debut during Joe's Pub's highly coveted holiday programming with her latest musical mishugas, "Tchatchkes & Latkes"! Recommended by New York Magazine as one of the Top 8 Hanukkah-themed must-see events of the season, Sage's latest show will weave songs from her eight-album discography with shpiel about her life as a former ballerina, adventures on the road, and her family’s extensive menorah collection. Expect a healthy mix of vaudevillian shtick, playful Yiddishkeit and Sage’s signature pianistic flair.
“Tchatchkes & Latkes!” will also feature several special guests including cellist Dave Eggar (Coldplay), drummer Quinn (Tracy Chapman), trumpet player Russ Johnson (Elvis Costello), and YouTube singing sensation Michelle Citrin (“Rosh Hashanah Girl”, “Pass The Candle”). **NOTE: Tickets are selling quickly, so best to purchase in advance!**
Last week Rachael performed her song "Too Many Women" to a packed house at Webster Hall at the OutMusic Awards in New York City. Coiffed for the pre-show red carpet by amazing hair-stylist Marco, Rachael later took the stage in a little red dress and of course, sparkling Swarovski® jewels. Accepting her two awards for BEST PRODUCER ("Vertigo") and BEST SONGWRITER ("Chandelier"), Rachael was varklempt and humbled by the support from her LGBT peers and fans. Thanks to all of the OutMusic members who voted for Rachael's music — and congratulations to all the OMA winners!!
An edited version of the (nearly 3 hour!) musical OutMusic Awards performances will be aired on MTV's LOGO channel soon — stay tuned for details...
New York Sage-lovers: If you happen to be in Union Square doing some holiday shopping this week, please stop by Best Buy for a special promotional performance and CD Signing, in support of Rachael's upcoming show at Joe's Pub, later this month! In addition to spreading the good-shpiel about her show and generally causing a mellifluous ruckus, Rachael will also be giving away copies of her latest single, "Too Many Women", with any purchase from her 8 album catalog — woohoo! :) Details at the bottom of this newsletter.
